An Ordinary Life? Hardly.

Bedan Mbugua is a wellness entrepreneur, author, environmental advocate, certified mediator, former media executive, and lifelong seeker committed to helping people live healthier, more meaningful lives. His journey has been anything but ordinary.

Orphaned at the age of six, Bedan learnt the dignity of work from childhood and developed an enduring belief that adversity can become a powerful teacher.

Three Decades, One Thread

Over the decades, his career has taken him through healthcare, pharmaceutical marketing, journalism, media leadership, international mediation, environmental restoration, regenerative agriculture, and wellness. As Chief Editor of the People's Daily, he published investigations the powerful would have preferred buried — a consequence was imprisonment, twice. He went on to join the founding team that built Citizen TV into Kenya's most-watched television channel, serving as General Manager during its defining years.

Each chapter — the newsroom, the mediation table, the reforestation project — deepened one central conviction: human health begins long before we enter a hospital. It begins with how we live, what we eat, and how we care for ourselves and the world around us.

Soil, Food, and Southern Africa

Trained in pharmacy and later in communication and leadership, Bedan has spent much of his life studying the connections between nutrition, natural health, soil, food, and human wellbeing. His work with food security programmes in Southern Africa strengthened his understanding that healthy people depend on healthy soils, healthy ecosystems, and wholesome foods.

These experiences inspired the creation of WIHOTE Wellness.

WIHOTE Organic Farm

Bedan is also the founder of WIHOTE Organic Farm, where regenerative farming, indigenous tree restoration, biodiversity conservation, and natural food production come together as a living demonstration of sustainable wellness. The farm serves as a place where the health of people and the health of the land are nurtured together.

As an author, Bedan has written extensively on leadership, truth, environmental stewardship, and humanity's future — including Stupidity Index and Edge of Hope and Extinction. His work reflects a deep belief that true wellness is more than the absence of illness. It is the harmony of body, mind, spirit, relationships, and the natural world.

A Vision for Africa

His vision extends beyond individual health. He dreams of a beautiful green Kenya and Africa where clean rivers flow, healthy forests thrive, nutritious food is abundant, young people find meaningful work, and communities flourish through integrity, compassion, and responsible stewardship.
